Our Impact

The first goal of the Make A Difference Community is to supply so much pasta and rice to our Charity Partners that they ask us for something different!
For many years pasta and rice have been the two staple foods that food charity organisations in Australia could never receive enough of.

When this first goal is achieved we will be well on the way to eradicating hunger in Australia.

Our Charity Partners
5 million Australians have experienced food insecurity in the last 12 months. We simply do not accept that so many people should need to worry about where their next meal is coming from.

Foodbank
Foodbank is Australia’s largest food relief charity. They fight food insecurity for 815,000 Australians each month, making their work crucial to the front line charities who are feeding vulnerable Australians. Despite their best efforts, it is estimated that they need 50% more food in order to provide enough for all those seeking assistance.

SecondBite
SecondBite is a leading food rescue organisation. In 2011, Coles and SecondBite formed a national partnership which allowed the expansion of the organisation’s operational scale and reach. They collect and distribute wasted food to over 1,000 community food programs across Australia. So far they have rescued and distributed the equivalent of 100 million meals.

FareShare
FareShare is the largest charity kitchen in Victoria and Queensland. They prepare and cook over 12,000 meals every day. These meals are then donated to food charities working directly with disadvantaged Australians.
Their process includes rescuing surplus food and receiving donated food.
This would not be possible without the huge volunteer workforce of 1,250 people that support FareShare

The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre
The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre offers food security to over 650 people per week. This ensures families receive essential food items to rebuild their lives in the community. Their community meals program offers hot meals 5 days a week to over 240 people. Plus ASRC provide an essential free food pantry service to their clients who simply do not have enough money to support their families.
Basmati rice is the most in demand staple food. So far the Make A Difference Community has funded over 4 tonnes of rice – enough for over 30,000 meals.
